2017 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lee completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Lee finished sixth in Class 5A region eight with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Generals last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Lee has gone a combined 25-46. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 5A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lee has managed to compile a record of 108-164. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 5A and 280th in the AHSAA. The Generals are led by head coach Tony Woods who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-10 over the past two seasons at Lee. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Woods. Coach Woods' overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 11-10 (52.4%). The Lee Generals will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2017 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Generals if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season. Senior Cordarius Cox returns after rushing for 698 yards on 112 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns. He also collected 4 sacks on defense. The defense returns Senior linebacker Cortez Brooks with 111 tackles and 4 sacks last season. The defense also returns Senior DE Malik Langham with his 6 sacks for 24 yards in losses last season. The Generals open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Grissom on Thursday, August 31 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Grissom Tigers finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 7A region four. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Brewer by a score of 55-12.
